THIERS-ISSARD was founded in 1884 by Mr. Pierre THIERS , born in 1860 and died in 1929. He then had an extraordinary reputation as a skilled blacksmith. His pieces, mainly hand razors, were of exceptional quality. When he created his own Company, he added his wife's name to avoid confusion with other THIERS families; these were numerous, we find more particularly 3 THIERS families in the Charter of 1582 which mentions all the master cutlers of THIERS and its surroundings. If Madame Pierre THIERS ensured the continuity of manufacturing for some time, upon the death of her husband, she was soon helped by her son, Mr. Pierre THIERS (1884-1962), then a few years later by Mr. Louis (1910-1985). , and Pierre THIERS (1914-1997). Came the last successor, Mr. Philippe THIERS , who sold his factory in 1985 to Gilles REYNEWAETER , who perpetuates the ancestral tradition of the hand razor by remanufacturing hunts as at the beginning of the 20th century, in horn, ivory, whale bone, beef bones as well as all the wood in the world. He added the tortoiseshell which was reserved for the nobility and kings, and created carbon damascus blade razors, and developed a range of “unique pieces” razors on demand.
